Introducing KoskiLaser 3D Premium
The guiding principle in Koskisen’s plywood product development work has always been to come up with pioneering solutions, ahead of the competition. One such product is KoskiLaser 3D plywood, which was developed for industries that use die-cutting in the manufacture of their packaging.
- Owing to the development of die cutting technology, the requirements for the base board have become tougher: the board must remain straight, withhold hundreds of thousands of strokes and retain its dimensional stability. According to customer feedback, KoskiLaser 3D has met the set targets extremely well,”says Product Manager Tomi Kivistö of Koskisen Panel Products Industry.
Premium board for top products
KoskiLaser 3D’s “big brother” is the higher quality KoskiLaser 3D Premium, which is manufactured entirely out of special plywood. In terms of properties it competes with laminate board, and in terms of concept with layered structures.
According to Kivistö, KoskiLaser 3D Premium’s technical properties are world-class: it is stronger and more durable than its predecessor. Premium was developed with the needs of die manufacturers in mind: it suits long, continuous runs, lasts as long as the other wear parts and allows for re-ruling, if the customer so chooses. Plywood is also an ecological solution, as the board can be incinerated at the end of its life cycle.
The new-generation product has been under development for years, but Kivistö has not been satisfied with KoskiLaser’s product recipe until now. The Power Orientated Micro Multiplex Stabiliser (POMMS) technology, developed for the manufacture of KoskiLaser 3D, aims at meeting the most challenging customer requirements.
- Packaging in the cosmetics industry has to be top quality, so excellent printing and die cutting properties are required, Kivistö says.
- The KoskiLaser product range is extensive and includes products from both ends of the price range. The products can be tailored precisely to the needs of the die manufacturer in terms of dimensions, thickness, coating and structure. KoskiLaser 3D Premium is based entirely on Koskisen’s own products, which guarantees flexible and fast manufacturing and deliveries, Kivistö pledges.
